Daily Reading from the New Testament, Old Testament, Psalms, and Proverbs

For the past few months, I have had a few ideas of what to do.  I pondered whether to write a Christian-living book, to create a podcast about my interests, or to share links and news on a blog.  In the end, it seemed best to use this blog to inspire my Facebook friends and others around the world.  In light of eternity, I wish that my friends might see the value of Bible reading and Bible study.  The Word of God can change any broken life, alter the course of generations, and give purpose to life.

I will be posting a daily Bible reading which includes a portion of the New Testament, Old Testament, Psalms, and Proverbs.

I will be posting both the chapter reading list and the specific KJV verses from e-Sword, so you will not have to turn to the passages in a Bible to follow along.  I will intersperse my thoughts between the verses to point out important doctrine, illustrations, overlooked phrases and words, etc.

For example, the reading for day one is:
Genesis 1:1-2:25
Matthew 1:1-2:12
Psalm 1:1-6
Proverbs 1:1-6

The Bible reading plan for the entire year is located under the appropriate month of the "One Year Readings" section on this webpage:  http://www.oneyearbibleonline.com/january.asp?version=9&startmmdd=0101

I will be starting with the reading for January 1st even though it is August. You could modify the month-by-month plan on the website above to a series of readings numbered 1-366 (i.e. accounting for leap day which happens every four years.)

Free, excellent Bible-study software (e-Sword version 10.1) is available at: http://www.e-sword.net/downloads.html

Once you have installed the new version 10.1, you can download modules from within the program itself.  Upon restarting the program, the modules will be available for your study.  Resources like the King James Version Bible (KJV) and the Treasury of Scripture Knowledge (TSK) are included with the initial program download.  The TSK is a great book of cross-references.  The Bible verse which you are studying can be best explained by other Bible verses which are found using tools like the TSK.  Many commentaries, dictionaries, atlas resources, and books are available for free download from within version 10.1 of e-Sword.
